Day 513 and working on a menu

So I've been working on a menu for the next couple of weeks for when I get groceries this weekend. The problem is that I am just tired of cooking and rarely want to do it anymore. I used to love it, but for some reason I just don't anymore. I used to love perusing through cookbooks and looking for new ideas to try but I haven't done that in ages. I've tried looking at those sites that plan menus for you. I've tried free ones and I've tried free samples off of paid ones. But either way, most of the recipes are kind of weird with unpronounceable ingredients that I can't find or have never even heard of. So I need to find some inspiration!

So I made chicken the other day in the crock pot, oh so good. Its just disolve a package of taco seasoning into a can of chicken broth. Then u pour it over chicken breast in the crock pot. You cook it about 6 hrs on low using 2 forks to shred it once in awhile or all at the end. It was amazing! We used it for tacos, nachos, and burritos.

Yum! I've made that before but hadn't made it in ages. I'm glad you mentioned it because it was really good. I don't know why I haven't made it for so long.

Do what I did, make a cooking blog. Once a week or so, I add a recipe. When I feel like I am in a rut cooking, I go look at the blog and pick something out! :)

LOL, or I'll just look at your blog Chell.

Mandy, I wonder what my family would think of chicken and dumplings...

I am going to have to try the taco seasoning and chicken broth trick. My freezer runneth over with chicken breast right now because of a super dee dooper sale ($.99 a pound) I had to buy alot.... i am wondering now what the taco soup would taste like with that chicken in it :)

I usually buy the cheapest meat they have at Jumbo, like 99 cent ribs or 79 cent chicken, in the jumbo pack. I'll cook it up and use the leftovers for soups and stews and casseroles. They had 59 cent turkey last fall for weeks and we had turkey EVERYTHING for months! I make up my own recipes based on what's on sale for ingredients and what I want in my dish.

Linda, I have turkey in my freezer that I need to use up. My problem is that while I like the taste of turkey okay, it is not one of my favorite foods, and I absolutely HATE the smell of turkey while it's cooking (long story behind that one). Anyway, you've reminded me that I need to thaw a turkey and cook it up.
