I'm a middle-aged woman determined to get out of debt. My husband and I are going through Financial Peace University (again!) through our church. As Dave Ramsey says, this isn't a microwave, it's a slow cooker. Come with me on my journey!

Day 551 and busy day
I got my hair cut this morning and then had lunch and a nap to try and sleep off the headache I woke up with. It helped but never completely went away. Then this afternoon, I took Tasha and her friends to Enid. Let me tell you, that is never boring. I'm going to miss when they all get their licenses and I don't get to do that anymore.

Day 550 and video game vent
I just had one child today and I took her to Enid to do some stuff at the Child Care Resource & Referral office, then we went to McDonald's to play and grab some lunch. I had not been in the play place at the McDonald's in quite a while. They used to have a section that was for the littler kids to play, but now they have video games there! They had like three Nintendo game cube games and another electronic games. Yes, because everyone goes to the McDonald's play place to play video games. For some reason, it just really frustrated me to see those games. I have nothing against video games in general. I enjoyed playing them in the past (don't play too often anymore) and I let my kids play them when they were younger. But I picture the play place as a place for active play, not a place for video games. Kids need to be able to get down and dirty and just have fun. I do toy reviews for a company and one of the toys that they sent me this last time is called a Splatster, you hook it to your TV and the kids can "paint" pictures on there. Heaven forbid we hand them an actual paintbrush and let them paint. Anyway, enough of my rants for today.
I am officially on "staycation" and really looking forward to spending time with Tom over the next few days.

Day 549 and exhausted
I don't know if it's the heat, the kids being um...challenging, or leftover exhaustion from VBS last week, or what, but I am downright exhausted today! Anyway, Tom & I are off next week and plan to mostly relax. I have a few things I'd like to work on but if I don't get them done, that's okay too. I'm glad the temperature looks like it's going to be a bit more bearable while we're off too. Yeah!

Days 547 & 548 and a rough couple of days
Well, I've gone several weeks with no really rough child care days, but these last couple of days took care of that. Guess the kids wanted to make sure I earned my vacation next week. LOL. On top of that, I had to drive Tasha to work this morning. We had to leave about 6:15 to get her there by 7:00 so I could be back here by 7:40 when kids start arriving. Hope everyone is having a good week. We had an arctic cold front move through today. It only got up to 97 instead of 107. LOL.

Days 545 & 546 and 16 years ago
Today I want to wish happy birthday to my youngest daughter, Natasha. She is turning 16! It seems hard to believe that she is 16. I know it sounds like a cliche, but it seems like just a few months ago that we brought her home from the hospital and just last week, Josh was carting her around with him everywhere. Time certainly does get away from us, doesn't it? It is just a reminder to me not to waste those precious moments, enjoy them all. Because they do not come again. Well, until I get grandkids, which thankfully looks to be several years off. LOL.
