I'm a middle-aged woman determined to get out of debt. My husband and I are going through Financial Peace University (again!) through our church. As Dave Ramsey says, this isn't a microwave, it's a slow cooker. Come with me on my journey!

Day 451 and 20 years ago
Today I'd like to say happy birthday to our dear son, Josh! He is 20 years old today! TWO of my kids are out of their teens. Dang!

Day 450 and taking a break
The next few days are going to be crazy. Tomorrow night I have a child care association meeting/officer election in Enid. Friday, I'm supposed to go with Tom to take Tasha and her friends to a concert in Wichita, KS. Saturday is the townwide Easter egg hunt. Homework, did I mention I have homework? It's all due Sunday night. I've felt so bad that I do not have much done on it. Sigh. I've got my reading done, but not all my writing. So after I post birthday wishes for Josh tomorrow, I'll be taking a break until Monday.

Day 449 and Dumping Debt
Sunday night's FPU lesson was on Dumping Debt. It's kind of hard not to let this one get me down because of all the people talking about how they paid "35,000" off in a year, etc. But I have to remind myself that each person is different. We are doing the best we can with what we have.
Last night, Tom "persuaded" me to go to Urgent Care because my cough had got really deep and I was having a hard time getting a breath. Surprise, surprise, I have bronchitis! Darnit! I thought getting the pneumonia shot was supposed to help me not get that anymore. So far I am not impressed.

Day 448 and a Major Praise
I just got an e-mail from my mom. My grandpa had another swallow test and he gets to start eating actual food! (Since Spring Break, he has been eating soft foods like applesauce, yogurt, ice cream, etc), but now he gets to start eating regular foods. He has gained 6 pounds, has gone from walking with his walker to using a cane (and often just carries the cane) and is overall just doing great! What a blessing! One of the biggest blessings from all of this is that he had lost his sense of smell and taste about 1 1/2 years ago, during the midst of all of this, it came back! Now of course that made it hard on him while he was not able to eat, but what a blessing to have it back now that he can start eating again. Grandmama is a wonderful cook and now Papa can enjoy her cooking again. My grandmother had an appointment with her eye doctor last week and is doing well. She does not have to go back until May. So another huge praise there! Prayer really works!
Because of this big news, I'll save my update on last night's FPU class for tomorrow.
