Sorry, I just totally spaced out writing an entry yesterday. No good reason, just forgot!
Today I've been doing laundry and working on homework, and I cooked chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, and salad for supper. Geesh, home-cooking sure does pile up the dishes though. LOL. For lunch we had burritos that I made from the taco leftovers earlier in the week. I've been working really hard at using up everything rather than letting things go to waste. Tomorrow we're having roast, carrots, and potatoes for lunch, then for supper we're having sandwiches. Then I've got to figure out a plan for next week's suppers. We have not eaten out all week long, even yesterday for lunch. Tom made us fried bologna, egg, and cheese sandwiches.
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!
I'm a middle-aged woman determined to get out of debt. My husband and I are going through Financial Peace University (again!) through our church. As Dave Ramsey says, this isn't a microwave, it's a slow cooker. Come with me on my journey!

Day 591 and time to grab those boot straps and start pulling!
Well, it is time to get over myself and my pity party and move on. Sometimes it's okay to feel sorry for yourself, but not for long. Does not do any good in the long term, right?!
A confession: We have been spending too much money (again!) eating out. That has got to stop NOW! We have even been in the habit of Tom going and getting he & I some lunch every Friday when he's off. No more of that, either! We have done great this week, we have not eaten out since last week. I've got meals planned for the next several days so we can keep it up.
I have been a major slacker on getting a budget done each month. A new month is just around the corner so I am going to get a budget done for September and Tom & I will have a budget meeting.
We have got to generate some extra income to get our emergency fund built back up. I'm putting the word out that I still have openings. We are going to try to sell some stuff, either by having a garage sale, listing it on sale sites, or whatever else we can come up with. We are also tossing around some side business ideas. If anyone has any ideas for generating extra income, we'd love to hear them.
That's all for today!

Days 589 & 590 and the pity party
Well, I feel like having a pity party for myself today. If you don't want to come, then stop reading now. LOL.
First of all, we still do not know what is going on with the van. I'd really like to know, one way or another, so we know what we're faced with.
Next, my mom was going to give us plane tickets to Las Vegas as our Christmas present and as a way for me to celebrate my graduation in December. We were so excited! We would have to pay for our hotel rooms and of course our own spending money. With Tom still at 32 hours a week and business still kind of slow here, we had to tell her that we could not accept them this year. That totally bummed me out.
Finally:is there ever going to be a point in our life where we are not constantly worried about money? Sometimes I wonder.
OK, pity party over and moving on. Hope everyone has a great day!

Day 588 and the silver lining
I have been working really hard at finding the positive and the joy in our car crisis. One thing is, I know we have wonderful friends. We had not one, but two people loan us vehicles to help us out! Tom's sister and brother-in-law took me all the way over to the church to pick one of them up. Life is easier when you're blessed with good friends.

Days 586 & 587 and my school starts tomorrow
My classes start back up tomorrow. I got my paper proposal submitted on Friday, now I just wait for approval and an adviser to be assigned. I'm excited for my last semester to begin, but I"m nervous about this 30-50 page final paper that I have to write.
No news on the van.
