Thursday was a very nice day. We drove to Norman to see Serenity and spent the day there. We ate dinner out and then went back to Serenity's apartment and played games and watched movies. It was a very nice family day. I really enjoyed it.
Yesterday I slept in until almost 9:00 and then got up and worked on homework. Tom's dad called and invited us over there so we went over there for a while during the afternoon and ate and visited with them. That was really nice, too.
Today, Tom has gone to get grocery shopping for me and I am still working on homework. I've got a rough draft to write for my final paper and that should about finish me up. I finally broke through my block on the one assignment yesterday afternoon. Thank goodness! Monday starts the last unit for this semester's classes. All assignments have to be turned in by Friday, December 12th. Then I'll have a break from classes until January.
Now for a lotion update. I tried using the Skin MD natural stuff just once a day this week. By Tuesday evening my hands were dry and starting to crack. So for me, obviously, just using that lotion once a day isn't going to work. Maybe because I have to wash my hands so often? I don't know what the problem with it was. Anyway, I switched back to the Jergen's ultra healing once a day and they're doing much better now. I'll continue to keep you posted on how things are working, especially as the weather gets colder.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Time to get back to my homework!
I'm a middle-aged woman determined to get out of debt. My husband and I are going through Financial Peace University (again!) through our church. As Dave Ramsey says, this isn't a microwave, it's a slow cooker. Come with me on my journey!

Day 318 and homework again
I'm stuck on homework again. This Ecology and Evolution class is absolutely kicking my tail! AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Anyway, we'll be gone to Norman tomorrow and I probably won't get a chance to post on the blog. I'm going to have to take a break from the blog until I get my homework and other things that I need to get done, such as a newsletter for the child care association, etc. I'll try to post small updates, but don't expect much for the next few days. LOL.
Hope all of you have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. If you're traveling, please drive carefully, my thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Day 317 and what I'm thankful for
Sunday at church, we sang one of my favorite hymns: 'Count your blessings'.
Anyway, trying to step out of my box and think of "different things" I'm thankful for.
I am thankful for the fire that destroyed our home. Even though that was one of the hardest times in our marriage, we have been blessed with a beautiful home that is in much better condition than the old one was.
I am thankful for my first marriage. I would not have Serenity and Josh and I would have never moved to Enid, met and married Tom and had Natasha without it.
I am thankful for getting fired from my last job. It led me into child care where I've been for the last 15+ years.

Day 316 and thoughts on being thankful
Last night at church, our preacher talked about being thankful. How it is a conscious act and takes effort. He shared these following thoughts:
1. Tune your focus to see the good things of life. Practice being thankful.
2. Adjust your attitude.
3. Look for new things! Don't just be thankful for the same old things.
4. Exercise your gratitude muscle.
5. Realize things could be worse.
6. Realize how much you already have.
7. Pass gratitude onto others.
One other thing I'd like to add is to be thankful for the tough times in your life, too. That is when we grow and learn the most, in my opinion. I would not be the person I am today if it were not for the tough times in my life.
Tomorrow: a list of what I'm thankful for (both good times and bad!)

Day 315 and tired tonight
I am so tired tonight. I did not sleep well last night, then we had to leave for church early this evening and didn't get home until about 8:30. So it's been a long day. It will however be a short week because I only work Monday & Tuesday. I was off Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving, then this past Friday I found out that I didn't have any kids on Wednesday. I'll probably be buried in homework, but it will still be nice to have a 5 day weekend.
Coming up tomorrow: some thoughts on being thankful! Have a great week, everyone!
