Don't Quit

I found this old poem in a book I'm reading. I have always liked it, but hadn't thought about it in a long time:

Don't Quit
by Edgar A. Guest

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you are trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must-but don't you quit!

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out,
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow-
You might succeed with another blow...

Success is failure turned inside out-
the silver tint of the clouds of doubt-
And you can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit-
It's when things get worse that you mustn't quit.

Boy, did that hit home right now when I am trying to get this house on the market and get stuff moved out, and living apart from Randy. Thanks, I needed that. Congrats on your blogiversary!

Linda, thank you! I cannot imagine how hard it must be to be getting the house ready to sell and living away from Randy.
