We had our last Financial Peace class last night. It was on giving and how giving can help make you more Christ-like. Tom & I do give to the church, but we are still not up to the tithe (10% of our income) yet. I sometimes wonder if we increased our giving how it would affect our debt repayment. But yet we should never give with the idea that we will get something in return. At any rate, I definitely think that the most important lesson learned from last night's message is this: "God owns it ALL!" We are merely stewards or managers of what God has blessed us with.
Tune in tomorrow for info on Tasha & I's visit to JCPenney's on Saturday and our bargains there.

Hi. I found your blog on my Aunt's blog (nicelycompsed) and I think it's neat how you're blogging about working towards being debt free. My husband and I follow several of Dave Ramsey's ideologies and really enjoy it. We've paid off a massive credit card in 9 months and we're now working to pay off my vehicle (we didn't pay cash for it, I guess we don't follow all of his thoughts just yet :) ). Anyway, congrats on so much progress! Do you have a tracker anywhere that shows numbers like where you've came from to what you've done? Just wondering :)
Yeah, giving is hard when you're using every cent of the paycheck just to live. I hope to take Financial Peace at some point at church myself.
Can't wait to hear the Penney's report. I love it there. I got Randy a BUNCH of clothes for FD for a pittance.
Thanks Megan. Glad to "meet" you! Every once in a while, I post a debt update, but I haven't done so in a while. Thanks for the reminder. If I was smart enough to figure it out, I could post a counter. I'll have to work on that.
Mary, if you get the chance, definitely take it, it is awesome!
Linda, you'll have to tell me about your bargains. Ours were good, but they don't sound as exciting as yours. LOL
Good job on the debt counter! I see you figured it out.
Thanks Di. I just added another "gadget" to my page and put it in there. Hadn't thought of doing that before (big DUH on me!)
I'm so glad you went through the Ramsey course and hope it helped.
We haven't done that one yet, but we have benefited greatly from a three year campaign at our church -- to give above the 10 percent towards a new facility so that more people can come to church there. It has changed us in so many ways (and of course you know this from reading my blog. :-)
I'll keep praying for you about this area in your life. You will find that when you trust God and just give it away, so much more comes back to you. It is mind-blowing.
Lots of love,
Heidi
Thanks Heidi. It was our 3rd time through FPU and we've learned/gained something new every time. It's a great program.
