Today my thoughts center not just on how commercialized Christmas has become, but on how early it all starts. I love Christmas decorations and Christmas music, but I can only take so much of them. The day after Halloween I went into Wal-mart and they are already playing Christmas music!!!!! Of course, they already had the Christmas stuff out, but that I"m used to. But already playing Christmas music? Last year, my favorite radio station (Magic 104.1 out of OKC) went to all Christmas music right after Thanksgiving. That is just too much for me!
So I have to fight off my annoyance at all of this every year to get into the Christmas spirit. Some years it works, some years I lose the battle. This year, I am going to win the battle! I am going to relax, I am going to enjoy Christmas and celebrate the season. That's half the battle right?
Tomorrow, let's talk about Thanksgiving! Later this week, I'm going to find and share some Christmas gift ideas.

I was surprised that two weeks before Halloween people all over the neighborhood were putting up Christmas lights. It's pretty bad when you're the Scrooge on the block because you don't have yours up the weekend after Thanksgiving.
I agree, the day after Halloween is ridiculous!I love Christmas music, but not this early. I saw a house with all their animated Christmas decorations on Saturday night! I have trouble getting in the Christmas mood before Thanksgiving.I have actually started a little of my shopping , but not much yet.
Dang, before Halloween even, Linda? Blah! I mean, I guess since the weather's been nice it would have been a good time to put them up, but I don't think I'd be turning them on yet!
Di, I have done more shopping this year than I have the past few years. I actually bought my first gift back in June! Now if I can just find it when it's time for Christmas. LOL!
Its the bell ringers that does it for me every year. I go to walmart early november and thats already started. Its just too early for me.
Yep, Mandy, when we went to Wal-Mart this past weekend, there they were. I know they have a job to do...but still. I think part of my problem is that the Salvation Army in Enid is not my favorite place. So seeing those bell ringers just annoys me. I still remember the news story about them firing a bell ringer who wasn't getting enough money.
I went into Wal-Mart yesterday and there was this 10-foot-tall Christmas tree staring at me right in the entryway with the carols blaring away. I literally laughed and the greeter looked at me like I was a wack-job, but honestly, it was ridiculously funny.
